What Damaged Teeth Can Do to Your Ears

When your ears are ringing, any noise can make them worse. The noise of the drill can be enough to make anyone's earache tougher to handle. However, if you get certain problems within your teeth fixed, it can actually help your ears stop ringing.

If you have been suffering from tinnitus, then you may want to consider going in to see your dentist. They may be able to help you get your ears to stop ringing.

Some Common Ailments That Can Cause Tinnitus

Impacted wisdom teeth can put a lot of pressure on your ears. They sit further back in your jaw, and with the tooth sitting awkwardly, it puts pressure on the ear canals. This can cause a lot of ringing in the ears and it can even cause pressure on your TMJ, which can further increase your ringing.

Abscesses can also cause a lot of pressure in and around the ear canal. The more infected the abscess becomes, the more it swells, and the more pressure it puts on the ear canals. Getting the abscessed tooth taken care of will allow you a bit of relief, and as the swelling goes down further, your tinnitus should resolve on its own.

If you are having ringing in your ear, talk to your dentist before having any work done. Drilling can transfer noise directly from where the work is done to your ears over the bone. This can cause an earache and it can even leave you with ringing in your ears that can last from a few hours to a few days.

Your dentist has other tools at his or her disposal that can keep your ears from ringing worse, so speak up. They can then help you with whatever ails your mouth without making the ringing in your ears any worse.
